Wedding Trends:Signature (Healthy) Cocktails

Having a signature cocktail at your wedding can be memorable, fun, tasty and cost effective!

So how do you choose a signature wedding cocktail?  It might be a reflection of your wedding theme, a drink the two of you like, something that will compliment the food or you can choose the new trend in low-calorie, healthy cocktails!

Here are some amazing  cocktails we came across in our quest for some signature drinks…

Blueberry-Lime Margarita- 125 calories

  • 2 cups ice
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup blueberry nectar
  • 1/4 cup seltzer
  • 2 tablespoons frozen limeade
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 3 ounces tequila, optional
  • 1 lime wedge
  • Coarse salt

Raspberry Spritzer – 168 calories

  • 2 cups seltzer
  • 2/3 cup frozen raspberries
  • 2 sprigs fresh mint
  • 3 ounces raspberry-flavored syrup, or Chambord
  • Ice cubes

Watermelon Gin Fizz- 153 calories

  • 5 cups diced watermelon, divided
  • 6 ounces gin, divided
  • 8 tablespoons lime juice, divided
  • 1 1/3 cups ginger ale, divided
  • Lime wedges, for garnish
  1. Freeze 1 cup watermelon for garnish. Puree the remaining 4 cups watermelon. Strain; divide the juice among 4 ice-filled glasses.
  2. Top each with 1 1/2 ounces gin, 2 tablespoons lime juice and 1/3 cup ginger ale. Garnish with the frozen watermelon and lime wedges. Non-alcoholic variation: Omit the gin.

Talk with your venue, reception location and/or caterer about having a signature cocktail to server at cocktail hour, during the meal or at the reception.  Once cost savings tip: if you are watching your budget – don’t have an open bar – just a signature cocktail!
