We asked the ever so pleasant Diana Lee with DeeLee Productions a few questions about her photography business and here is what she said!

What do you love about what you do? I love it when a couple becomes more than just my bride and groom – they become my friends. Telling their story and being more than just their photographer is the ultimate satisfaction and reward for me. I hate being a cookie-cut-out, and I don’t expect my couples to act that way, either. I love the diversity and the personalities. I love being there to help out on the most important day of their lives. I take immense satisfaction and pride in that.

What makes you stand out against others in the industry? I don’t cater to platinum weddings. I love the DIY, the beach, the artsy, the homegrown styles. I love working with couples who aren’t having a wedding to outshine the Jones’, but because they’re in love and that’s the most important aspect of their wedding day. The couples who remember that are always the happiest.

What is your favorite product or service that you offer brides? Me, lol! I’m the face and the driving force behind this business. Since it is just me, I take the time to be there for each couple that comes to me. I can remember details that others may not be able to. I also like finding couples whose personality is just as cool as mine.

What is your best advice for brides to be? Put it all down – all the magazines, the books, the Pinterest tab – and remember why you’re doing this. You’re doing this because you found someone you want to be with forever. That is more important than having gold leafing on the cake, or zinnias instead of roses. The details are fun, and they’re totally worth playing with, but don’t let them overrun what this whole wedding thing is really about: love!

What is the worst wedding moment you have experienced?  I had a nightmare that I forgot my own wedding dress at my wedding, and I had to wear nothing but my lingerie down the aisle. Thankfully, it was just a nightmare and my wedding dress was there on my big day! Phew! In real life, my couples have been lucky to have amazing family and friends nearby. If there were any “bad” moments, they didn’t last for more than a second and were quickly forgotten.

What are your price points or price ranges? Since I cater to the “we-live-in-the-real-world” weddings and couples, my prices reflect that. I offer wedding collections that start at only $999 and go up from there – but, for those couples who are in the military, I provide special extras and discounts!

When should a bride contact you? ASAP! I book weddings up to a year out, but often see brides wait until the last minute. By that point, I’m already booked and can only offer them my recommendations.

 Do you offer any other products or services?  Phew, there’s a lot to go over with that! I do offer collections that include digital files, elopement coverage, albums, custom thank-you cards and save-the-dates, and especially engagement sessions.

What are 5 adjectives that describe you and/or your business?  I always say I’m the “redheaded photographer extraordinaire”! I’m definitely witty and casually-chic, lol. Maybe a bit modest, too! Was that more than five? Oh well… 😉
