Wedding Venue Highlight: Friday Musicale

Established back in 1890, Friday Musicale is a venue with plenty of history and exquisite character. Located in historic Riverside,  it offers a unique setting for your most special day. With two distinctive buildings to choose from, one is sure to wow you. We asked Jeff S. Tawney, the Venue Rental Manager, a few questions about the venue and here is what he had to say:

What made you decide to work in the wedding industry?  I enjoy helping the Bride’s vision come true.

What do you love the very most about what you do?  No two Weddings / Events are alike.  I enjoy talking to the Bride & Groom and helping plan.

Will you be on-site during the entire reception until the very end?  We have experienced event staff that are on site from start to finish.

Tell the brides-to-be your best wedding advice.   Less is more!  This includes your guest list.  If you have a budget of $10,000, don’t invite 200 people.  You can make more of your dreams and wishes come true with less people and being able to spend money where it counts.  Less can be more with the theme of the room as well.  Don’t overcrowd the space.  Evaluate the space and use it to your advantage.

What is your most favorite wedding trend right now?  I can’t say that I have a favorite at this time.  I love the Bride & Groom who are not afraid to think outside the box.  This is YOUR wedding– there are no rules.

What do you do that makes you stand out more so than others in your industry? Honesty & Good Listener.  I also love to share ideas that help the Bride & Groom with planning.

What is your favorite product or service that you offer brides?  Please describe it.  We are a Historical Event Venue.  I love to share the history of our venue.  Friday Musicale was established in 1890 and we are celebrating our 125th Season.  We are a non profit organization.  When you rent our venue, your funds go towards maintaining the Historical Value of our buildings as well as fund various programs such as our Free Concert Series, College Scholarship Program and Community Outreach.

Do you offer any other products or services?  We are a Historical Event Venue.  Your rental includes the Venue, Tables & Chairs and Access to our Kitchen Space.  We set up the tables and chairs and we break them down.  We have great relationships with amazing vendors in Jacksonville that we would love to introduce you to for all of your needs.

Will you have an assistant during the wedding? We are a Historical Event Venue.  Wedding Planner (Professional or Close Family / Friend) is always suggested.

How far in advance should a bride to be contact you before the wedding?  We contract space up to a year in advance.

How long have your been doing what you do?  I have been in the event industry for over 25 years.  I have planned both Corporate & Social events— Everything from Multi Million Dollar Corporate events to the smallest garden social and everything in between.

What are 5 adjectives that describe you and/or your business?  ME — Experienced, Organized, Listener, Productive, Calm
